About Us

Ravens have a bad rap in the magickal world, as well as in the mundane world.  Creatures of air, they are very misunderstood and often mistaken for their black-feathered cousins, the Crows.

In Celtic and Native American myths, the Raven is the carrier of souls between the Spirit World and the Earth Plane, hence the belief of "carrion-eater".  However, though they may eat what is dead, it is what they carry back and forth from the Spirit World to the Earth Plane that defines the spiritual and magickal creatures that they are.  As in all cycles of birth and rebirth, the Raven is known to carry spirits home, as well as bring souls from the Spirit Realm to the Earth Plane to be born (or reborn).

Ravens have been known to hunt and feed with wolves in the wild, as well as stay with a specific successful wolf pack to help its own grow in numbers.

"To have a raven's knowledge" is an Irish proverb meaning to have a seer's supernatural powers. The raven is considered to be one of the oldest and wisest of all animals as they have the ability to "see forward" and thus avoid conflict whenever possible - however, there are times when they have been known to pick a good fight and stand firm in the face of adversity.

So, who are we?

Raven Coven is a Traditional Coven originally founded in 1983.  Born from a seer's dream, the coven itself has grown and waned with the ebb and tide of the Universal flow of Life, however, one thing remains constant - we remain ever vigilant of our community and its people.  Armed with love and knowledge, we seek to help heal as well as educate the community in the Craft and our Tradition.
